The FFA Section III crops judging contest was held Nov. 3 at Black Hawk College’s East Campus, with Galva High School’s Chris Mille emerging from all competitors to take the individual title and lead his team to the team title.



 


The FFA Section III crops judging contest was held Nov. 3 at Black Hawk College’s East Campus, with Galva High School’s Chris Mille emerging from all competitors to take the individual title and lead his team to the team title.

During the contest, entrants are quizzed on weeds, insects, seeds and crop rings.

Top 10 individuals were: Mille, first; Ben Martens of Orion, second; Matt Johnson of Galva, third; Trent Taber of Geneseo, fourth; Lauren VanDeVelde of Galva, fifth; Ryan Haney of Bureau Valley, sixth; Josh Knoblock of Bureau Valley, seventh; Mike Crayne of Orion, eighth; Ted Bartoli of Princeton, ninth; and Laura DeBaillie of Orion, 10th.

Following Galva in the team category were: Orion, second; Geneseo, third; Bureau Valley, fourth; Princeton, fifth; Wethersfield, sixth; Kewanee, seventh; Sherrard, eighth; AlWood, ninth; Stark County, 10th; Cambridge, 11th; and Annawan, 12th.
