The Galva School Board on Jan. 24 unanimously hired Chad Cox as their new junior/senior high school principal. Cox, 35, will replace Richard Kucharz, who will be retiring near the start of the 2011-2012 school year after 33 years in education.



 


The Galva School Board on Jan. 24 unanimously hired Chad Cox as their new junior/senior high school principal.

Cox, 35, will replace Richard Kucharz, who will be retiring near the start of the 2011-2012 school year after 33 years in education.

Principal of Abingdon High School since 2005, Cox will begin his duties on July 1 with a one-year renewable contract. His salary will be $85,000.

Cox has been an administrator for seven years, including two years as director at Frontier High School in Elizabeth, Colo. Prior to that he was a teacher for four years. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

Cox graduated from Western Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and from the University of Phoenix, where he earned a Masters in Education.

He is married to Karra and they have a daughter, Charly Elizabeth, 2.

Cox plans to commute to Galva from his home in Avon.
