Phyllis S. Anderson, 90, of Galva, died at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.
Phyllis was born on Oct. 22, 1922 in Galva, the daughter of Ira B. "Ted" and Mary P. Homer Sellon.
She married Harold L. "Pancake" Anderson on April 12, 1947 in Galva. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2011.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis "Denny;" and a daughter, Linda, in infancy; one brother, Merlin Sellon; and a sister, Jacqueline Anderson.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Bill) Mattingly of Oregon, Ill.; a son, Dean (Christy) Anderson of Dahinda; six grandchildren, Amy Patton, Drew Anderson, Stacey Catlin, Jess Entas and Micah and Ahna Mattingly; seven great-grandchildren, Kayden, Abby, Ella, Evan, Luke, Kahlia and Addison; and two sisters, Lois Greenhagen of Kewanee and Donna Nixon of Galesburg.
She graduated from Galva High School in 1940.
In her early years, she taught school in rural Galva and Bishop Hill schools. She had also worked at Lilly-Tulip in Galva and sold Tupperware.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Galva.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and their families.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at Rux Funeral Home, Galva. Pastor Don Reul will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery.
