Fans of the band known as The Byrds from the mid-'60s leading into the '70s will remember the great music that came from their catalog of twelve classic albums. With songs like “Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Eight Miles High”, “So You Want To Be A Rock ‘n' Roll Star”, and “Turn! Turn! Turn!”, the band carved a legendary status out for themselves quickly and forever. With a mass of loyal fans who followed their every move, even the members of the band succeeded well outside the confines of The Byrds. One of them is Chris Hillman.

The first two solo albums from Chris Hillman were released by Asylum Records back in the late '70s. Those included Slippin' Away (1976), and Clear Sailin' (1977). Both albums issued four singles between them.

On February 9 of 2018, a specialty restoration and reissue label known as Omnivore Recordings will release a collective set called The Asylum Years. This 20-track album will essentially reissue both Asylum albums released by Hillman in remastered form and on one CD.The new set will feature a new booklet with an essay, a new interview with Chris Hillman, photos, and credits of both albums.

This is a great chance to upgrade your library of inferior CD copies of these Chris Hillman essentials with a better sounding single set. With a new booklet detailing both albums, this make The Asylum Years a good update.
