Name: Roger Luft

Occupation: retired university professor and photographer

Have resided in Galva since: 2004

If I were to live anywhere else, I’d choose: by Flathead Lake in Montana – probably Bigfork, Mont. I was raised in Montana and have lived in that part of the state before. It is very pretty and a rather mild climate. Flathead cherries are the best.

One of my cherished childhood memories is: When at age 12 I got into the pickup on the farm where I grew up and drove by myself . . . no lessons and no accidents!

People might be surprised to learn that: I and my eight siblings are first generation American citizens. Both sets of my German grandparents emigrated from Russia. My dad was born in Canada and my mother was born in Leipzig, Bessarabia, Russia.

I’m thankful for: Life and all that it holds.
