From the early morning hours until after the sun sets, July 4 will again be celebrated Galva-style this Saturday. From the opening event - a 7:30 a.m. kiddie half-mile fun run - to the capper - a tremendous fireworks show in the Galva Park District - the day’s filled with fun that will hopefully attract the usual thousands of people, despite the sluggish economy.
Galva’s been in existence for 155 years. The Hathaway family’s been here 153 of them. They’re as Galva as Galva gets. Probable cause has been found to believe Tammy Hagerty, 32, and Jennifer Jaco, 33, both of Galva, committed a felony, following arrests made last week in connection with an alleged methamphetamine operation in Galva.

The nineteenth annual antique show and sale will be held at the Old Colony School in Bishop Hill on Saturday July 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $3.
