Midsommar Music Festival will return Saturday, June 27 with a strong line-up of musical performers. Highlights of this free all-day event include Main Stage performances, music workshops; open jamming, a Swedish Maypole celebration and an old-fashioned barn dance at the Colony School in the evening.

The fourth-annual Senior Expo, hosted by the Galva News and its sister newspapers, CentralBank, Good Samaritan Village and Hammond-Henry Hospital was “very successful,” according to Galva News Publisher Dee Evans.
Registration is underway for the Galva Independence 5K Run/Walk to be held July 4, beginning at 8 a.m. at Wiley Park. The 3.1-mile run will be preceded at 7:30 a.m. by a half-mile fun run around Wiley Park for kids 10 and under.

The date has changed for this year’s reunion of all classes which graduated from Galva High School 50 years or more ago. The new date is Sunday, Aug. 16. It’s important to note that this date is still the same weekend as Galva Day (which is Friday, Aug. 14), but will be held on a Sunday instead of Saturday.
Carol Winbigler doesn’t want her son’s death to define his life. In the early morning hours of Jan. 17, Daniel Hall was found dead on a bathroom floor following a night of partying in a home at 742 Knox Road 2350N. A heroin overdose caused his death, according to his family. He was 26 years old.
A Senior Expo partially sponsored by the Galva News will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 1 at the Geneseo Community Center. The expo will feature nearly 35 vendors exhibiting everything from information on senior housing to entertainment options.
