A Senior Expo partially sponsored by the Galva News will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 1 at the Geneseo Community Center.
The expo will feature nearly 35 vendors exhibiting everything from information on senior housing to entertainment options.
“The expo is an opportunity for people to receive a lot of information about various companies and organizations under one roof,” said Dee Evans, publisher of the Henry County Advertizer- Shopper and Galva News, which is co-sponsoring the event with Central Bank, Good Samaritan Village and Hammond-Henry Hospital.
“A lot of vendors will have giveaways and prize drawings. In addition, those who attend will have the chance to win door prizes,” said Evans. “There will be items available to sample as well as items available for purchase.”
A highlight of the expo will be a hot lunch buffet served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The buffet, prepared by Hammond-Henry Hospital, will feature turkey and roast beef, as well as vegetables, salad, drinks and desserts.
“The first year of the expo, we had a hot buffet, but the past few years we’ve had cold box lunches. We think returning to the hot buffet will be a real crowd pleaser,” said Evans.
In addition, from 1 to 2 p.m., attendees can play bingo games for the chance to win prizes.
Sam and Sandra Hodgett of Sheffield will provide big band music, with space available for couples who want to dance.
Admission is free, but there is a lunch fee. Advance lunch tickets are $5 and are available at the Galva News, Central Bank, Good Samaritan Village and Hammond-Henry Hospital.
