A mini tree decked in red and white and bearing the word “Believe” made by Rona Williams of rural Galva received the most votes in this year’s Festival of Mini Trees, according to closing ceremonies for the annual event at the Galva Arts Council Building on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13.

Appropriately entitled “Believe,” Williams’ tree caught the eye of many visitors to the festival, which began last month. Lee Ann Lovelace won Williams’ tree, having her name drawn from all the entries (donations) cast in favor of the tree.

Dee Bersell’s “Trimmed in Bronze” entry received the second most votes. It was won by Rebecca Duytschaver.

There was a tie for third place, with Karen Hagaman’s “Star Light, Star Bright” and Carlee Hawkins’ “Three French Hens” wreath tying. Pat Raley (Mrs. Jim Raley), won Mrs. Hagaman’s tree. Donna Smith won Hawkins’ wreath.

For a list of all other entries, their artists and the name of the person winning that entry, see the Dec. 17 Galva News.
