Jannifer Powellson, a  rural Altona native, has published a new book designed to help children learn about the prairie and prairie plants.

Daughter of Glenn and Judy Stevens and a 1986 ROVA High School graduate, Powellson recently released the book, entitled “Rachel and Sammy Visit the Prairie.”

With its entertaining storyline, numerous photos and vivid illustrations, the book makes learning about the natural world fun. It also serves as a junior field guide for children and answers questions they have about prairie plants.

Books may be purchased directly from the publisher, Strategic Book Group, at www.strategicbookpublishing.com/RachelAndSammyVisitThePrairie.html, or at the Stark County Soil and Water Conservation District in Toulon, Amazon.com, or Barnes and Noble.com.

Powelson lives in Princeton  with her husband Brad and two daughters. She shot the photos for her book.
