The fourth-annual Senior Expo, hosted by the Galva News and its sister newspapers, CentralBank, Good Samaritan Village and Hammond-Henry Hospital was “very successful,” according to Galva News Publisher Dee Evans.

“We had 34 vendors from throughout Henry County and the greater Quad-City region,”said Evans. “And, we had more than 250 attendees at the expo.”

Evans said the feedback she heard from those who attended the May 1 event at the Geneseo Community Center was very positive.

“They said they enjoyed coming out to look at the different exhibits, dancing to the music and playing bingo in the afternoon,” she explained.

A hot-buffet lunch also was a popular feature at this year’s expo.

“We had a hot buffet at our very first Senior Expo, and we were happy to bring it back this year,” said Evans.

Those who attended the 2009 expo were able to enter door prize drawings.

The winner of two tickets to Circa 21, courtesy of the Geneseo Republic, was Janet Anderson of Geneseo.

Two other winners - Charles Lowe of Geneseo and Ruth Steffen of Cambridge - each won a year’s subscription to their choice of either the Geneseo Republic, Cambridge Chronicle, Orion Gazette or Galva News.
