MT. VERNON, IN – The CWC Lady Bulldogs late-season losing streak reached four games with an 8-3 loss to Mt. Vernon on Wednesday.
CWC struck first when Madison Wenzel led off the game with a double and was driven in by Morgan Combs. The two repeated the deed in the third inning to put the Lady Bulldogs up 2-1 but Mount Vernon broke open the game with six runs in the third inning, four of them coming after two outs. The Lady Bulldogs had several chances to stop the rally but defensive lapses arose again to keep the inning alive.
The Lady Bulldogs had several more scoring chances, but could just not string the hits together.
“We hit the ball hard a lot of times today,” said CWC Coach Scott Conner. “But a lot of times it was right at them. I’m more concerned with our defense right now.”
