Paced by a third-place finish from Caelin Foley, the Mid-County boys cross country team placed second in the Annawan-Wethersfield Titan Invitational Monday at Kewanee Dunes Golf Club.

Paced by a third-place finish from Caelin Foley, the Mid-County boys cross country team placed second in the Annawan-Wethersfield Titan Invitational Monday at Kewanee Dunes Golf Club.

The Cougars finished with 82 team points in the cross country, behind only team champion Galesburg with 42 points. Ridgewood was third at 108 and Knoxville fourth at 125.

Foley took third in a time of 17:19.8 to lead the Cougars. Lorin Peterson took eighth in 18:05.8, followed by Nate Peters 27th in 19:22.1, Isaac Asplund 32nd in 19:48.3 and Cal Larson 39th in 20:20.6 for Mid-County.

Ridgewood was led by Peter Rizzo in ninth with a time of 18:07.1. Andrew Hand crossed in 17th at 18:34.5 for the Spartans, followed by Jordan Francis 22nd in 19:04., Caden Bowers 44th in 20:52.3 and Evan Sullivan 45th in 21:03.6.

In the girls race, Ridgewood finished 10th in the team chase with 200 points.

Carlie Barman had Ridgewood’s best finish as she placed 34th in 24:13.7. Also counting for the Spartans were Lauren Curry 40th in 24:55.3, Tobi Matter 49th in 25:35.5, Makenna Medley 51st in 25:39.8 and Anna Paul 65th in 27:32.3.

Mid-County was represented by three runners, led by Lauren Hawes in 43rd in 25:07.4. Kasey Campagna was 63rd in 27:19.8 and Annadoria Ledbetter was 66th in 27:26.3.

Geneseo won the team title with 32 points and host A-W was second at 73.

The individual champions were Riley Dulin of Monmouth-Roseville in the boys race (16:37.1) and Whitney Johnson of Annawan-Wethersfield in the girls race (19:08.7).
