WQAD pep rally Sept. 8 in Oneida Fans of the Mid-County football team need to set their alarms for an early rise Friday, Sept. 8.

ROWVA High School teacher Jennifer Carlson nominated the Mid-County football team for WQAD-TV’s Morning Pep Rally, and the QC-based station said yes to the Cougars.

WQAD weatherman Eric Sorenson will arrive at ROWVA’s Adams Field at 5 that morning, and a live broadcast begins at 6. The Cougars host Mercer County that night for their Lincoln Trail Conference opener.

“We want to honor the Mid-County Cougar football team and all the other teams that are part of Mid-County — Galva, ROWVA and Williamsfield,” Carlson said in a YouTube video touting the pep rally.

Students, teachers and community members are encouraged to attend the pep rally. It concludes at 7 a.m., which gives Galva and Williamsfield students plenty of time to return to school. The morning will feature games, music and a poster contest.

Those attending are encouraged to wear their Cougar colors.

The ROWVA FFA will be serving biscuits and gravy for breakfast, with the proceeds benefitting Relay For Life. Any businesses or sponsors that would be interested in donating prizes for the rally can contact ROWVA High School at (309) 483-6371.
