Paced by top-four finishes from Lorin Peterson and Caelin Foley, the Mid-County boys cross country team held off Mercer County for the Lincoln Trail Conference title Thursday, Oct. 5, at Kewanee Dunes Golf Club.

The Cougars finished with 47 team points, followed by Mercer County 51, Princeville 77, Annawan-Wethersfield 84 and Ridgewood 86.

Freemie Shoemaker was the LTC individual champion with a time of 16:49.4, with M-C’s Peterson taking second at 16:54.4.

Foley finished fourth in the race with a time of 17:18.5. 

Also counting for the Cougars were Nate Peters 16th at 18:51.7, Cal Larson 18th at 18:52.5 and Nathan Cutts 21st at 19:17.7.

Ridgewood was led by Jordan Francis, who finished eighth with a time of 17:50.5. Also counting for the Spartans were Andrew Hand 17th at 18:51.9, Carrson Anderson 24th at 19:56.9, Benny Melow 26th at 20:06.6 and Evan Sullivan 28th at 20:09.1.

Joining Shoemaker, Peterson, Foley and Francis with all-conference (top 10) performances were Austin Earley of Annawan-Wethersfield, Zach Leonhart of Mercer County, Cole Daily of Princeville, Ryan Monson of Mercer County, Yovani Larios-Saavedra of United and Joe Fisher of Annawan-Wethersfield.

 

Hawes, Barman earn All-LTC honors

Led by a one-two finish from Whitney Johnson and Rachel Gomez, the Annawan-Wethersfield girls cross country team captured the LTC title.

Johnson was the meet’s individual champion with a time of 19:17.7, followed by Gomez at 19:37.8. 

The Lady Titans finished with 28 team points, followed by Princeville 48, Stark County 53 and Ridgewood 86.

Ridgewood’s Carlie Barman earned All-LTC honors with an eighth-place finish in a time of 22:00.3. Also counting for the Spartans were Makenna Medley 18th at 23:34.9, Tobi Matter 20th at 23:50.8, Lauren Curry 21st at 23:52 and Anna Paul 28th at 26:02.7.

Mid-County’s Lauren Hawes finished seventh in a time of 21:50.3 to earn All-LTC honors. Also running for the Cougars were Annadoria Ledbetter 23rd at 24:08.3 and Kasey Campagna 24th at 24:12.3.

Joining Johnson, Gomez, Hawes and Barman as all-conference runners were Brooke Rennick of Stark County, Rachel Cook of Annawan-Wethersfield, Sorin Hilsabeck of Princeville, Cora Rusk of Annawan-Wethersfield, Libby Martin of Princeville and Carrie Gill of Princeville.
