Mid-County hung around with one-loss Princeville for a half Friday night, but the Princes broke the game open with three third-quarter touchdowns en route to a 43-0 win.

The Princes clinched a playoff berth by improving to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. The Cougars remain on the cusp of playoff eligibility at 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the LTC.

Matthew Butterfield started the scoring for the Princes with a 3-yard run in the opening quarter. Princeville pushed the margin to 13-0 at the half on a 34-yard run by Jack Arnett.

Arnett tallied two more scores in the decisive third quarter on runs of 2 and 34 yards, and Adam Snedden added 5-yard TD run.

Snedden scored the game’s final touchdown with 10:14 remaining in the fourth quarter from 25 yards out, and Princeville finished the scoring with a safety.

Snedden finished with 134 rushing yards, while Arnett added 78 yards.

Princeville’s defense held Mid-County to 98 yards of total offense — 85 yards rushing and 13 yards passing.

Bret Woodside and Jason Clark had 29 yards rushing each for M-C.

The Cougars are back in action Friday night (Oct. 13) with their home finale against Annawan-Wethersfield.

LTC standings — Annawan-Wethersfield 5-0, Princeville 4-1, Mercer County, Mid-County and Stark County 3-2, West Central 2-3, Ridgewood and United 0-5.

In addition to A-W at Mid-County Friday night, the LTC schedule finds Princeville at Stark County, United at Mercer County and Ridgewood at West Central.

F-S standings — Princeville 5-0, Annawan-Wethersfield 4-1, Ridgewood, Mercer County and United 3-2, West Central and Stark County 1-4, and Mid-County 0-5.

Monday night’s fresh-soph results were Princeville over Mid-County 43-14, Annawan-Wethersfield over Ridgewood 22-6, Mercer County over West Central 42-14 and United over Stark County 26-24.

The schedule Monday, Oct. 16, finds Stark County at Princeville, Mid-County at Annawan-Wethersfield, West Central at Ridgewood and Mercer County at United.
