Under the action agenda, November bills of $473,389.95 were approved. Also approved were the eighth grade class trip to Springfield Nov. 21, the U.S. history class trip to Springfield Nov. 29, the FFA trip to Virginia, Ill., Dec. 7 and the FFA trip to Champaign Dec. 9.


Superintendent Angela Simmons reported she, Mr. Braun and Mr. Craig met with Spoon River Valley’s athletic director and administrative team to discuss Jr. High co-opting. She shared a first proposal in which the group had selected sports hosts. Discussion followed, including a suggestion to form a committee of board members from each district to meet as they did in the past. Simmons responded Valley was not in favor of having more meetings and was content with the annual meeting.


Jr. High co-opting will be effective during the 2018-19 school year.


President Sue McCance appointed Debra Deakin as delegate for the IASB Conference. Deakin will attend the delegate assembly to vote on IASB resolutions and elect a new president and vice president of the association.


Under new business, the board employed Terry Yocum as bus monitor for the 2017-18 school year, Lindsay Harold as a volunteer for the middle school volleyball program for the 2017-18 school year and a district employee request for maternity leave.


The board also approved the tentative tax levy for fiscal year 2019.


The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, in the Elementary library, 652 E. Main Street, Cuba.
