Plans are already in motion for Galva’s annual Memorial Day events and activities.

The work begins Saturday, May 19, with the placing of flags on the graves of veterans at the Galva Cemetery. Anyone interested in helping should meet at 7 a.m. at the south end of the cemetery.

On Memorial Day — Monday, May 28 — the Avenue of Flags will be raised at 6 a.m.

The Memorial Day services planned that day are 9 a.m. at Bishop Hill Cemetery, 10 a.m. at Galva Cemetery, 10:45 a.m. at St. John’s Cemetery and 11:15 a.m. at LaFayette Cemetery. The speaker will be announced soon for the Galva Cemetery service.

The Avenue of Flags will be taken down at 4 p.m. on Memorial Day, and the grave flags will be taken down June 2. Anyone interested in helping with the grave flags should meet at 7 a.m. at the south end of the Galva Cemetery.
