Thirty-two members of Galva Junior High’s eighth grade class were promoted to high school at a May 22 ceremony in the GHS gym.

Students promoted to high school were Tristan Ahlgrim, Caleb Almquist, Blaize Ballard, Riley Bean, Taylor Burke, Alicia Carrasca, Brady Clark, Brandon Clark, Thomas Conner, Grace Duncan, Hailee Dunn, Joshua Dunn, Damien Eneunwosu, Dayshaa Garcia, Gracie Goodman, Jaden Jackson, Wyatt King, Lillian Modesto, Aidan Moore, Cayden Morse, Trinity O’Donnell, Jacob Pierce, Tyler Piester, Savannah Platt, Wade Rachel, Keigan Rylander, Skylar Sauer, Beth Shappard, Rainah Shappard, Jenna Suddeth, Kailii Wood and Lyla Wyant.

Taylor Burke and Aidan Moore were named the recipients of the Citizenship Award presented by Galva American Legion, Hagberg-Hamlin Post 45.

Recipients of the Presidential Academic Excellence and Achievement awards were Caleb Almquist, Taylor Burke, Thomas Conner, Grace Duncan, Joshua Dunn, Aidan Moore, Tyler Piester, Savannah Platt, Keigan Rylander and Jenna Suddeth.

Students contributing to the program were Savannah Platt with the welcome, Tyler Piester leading the Pledge of Allegiance, Taylor Burke and Grace Duncan presenting a poem to the Class of 2022, and Thomas Conner with the closing remarks.

Two of Galva High School’s valedictorians from the Class of 2018 — Josie Berry and Mason Kaiser — were guest speakers at the ceremony.
