The Galva Arts Council’s Coffeehouse series returns Saturday, Oct. 13, with Toronto-based singer-songwriter Shawna Caspi.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the Arts Council building, with Caspi’s show starting at 7 p.m. An open mic follows at 8:30 p.m.

Admission to the concert is free of charge, but a donation of $10-20 is suggested.

Caspi is currently touring the Midwest, including her stop in Galva and a show the following night — Sunday, Oct. 14 — at Ca D’Zan House in Cambridge.

“Last year, I performed in nearby Kewanee at the Musical Hospitality series,” Caspi said by e-mail. “It was there that I met local musician — and excellent baker — Tom Campbell, who invited me to perform at the coffeehouse. I’m looking forward to coming back.”

Caspi has been on the road for the past year promoting her most recent album, “Forest Fire.”

She also created the paintings that are part of the album artwork.

Caspi was an official showcase artist at the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (SERFA), Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA), and Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) conferences in the USA and has toured throughout the USA and Canada. She has played at the Blue Skies Music Festival, the Ottawa Grassroots Festival, the Shelter Valley Folk Festival, the Kingsville Folk Music Festival, the Summerfolk Festival in Ontario, the ArtsWells Festival in British Columbia, and the Deep Roots Music Festival and Harmony Bazaar Festival in Nova Scotia, as well as concert series including the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse in Franklin, Mass., Six String Concerts in Columbus, Ohio, the me&thee coffeehouse in Marblehead, Mass., and John Platt’s On Your Radar in New York City.

Caspi has also been creating and selling landscape paintings of places she sees when on tour. Images of those paintings can be found at www.shawnacaspi. com/paintings.
