Jerome Eugene “Jerry” Gibson
Jerome Eugene “Jerry” Gibson, 70, of rural Galva, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 at his home.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Mike Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at the Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers.

He was born March 29, 1948 in Buena Vista, Ga., the son of J. Henry Gibson and Margaret (Ford) Gibson DeMott. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Angela Lewis, Carmin Widner, Faye (David) Dunn, Megan (Tim) Davis and Keitra (Robby) Sparks; his step-children, Trent (Julie) Kaufman, Susan (Paul) Schuytema and Ian (Marla) Klein; his grandchildren, Lyle Sellers, Ashley Sellers, Ivy (T.C.) Clifton, Jamie (Craig) Harper, Rodney (Alyssa) Brasington, Wade (Mikayla) Brasington, Aubrey Davis, Cameron Davis, Elsie Davis, Bradley Kemper, Max Lansing, Emery Schuytema, Eli Schuytema, Katherine Kaufman, Donald Elston, Kane Elston, Grace Klein and Kaydence Klein; his great-grandchildren, Mason Mayes, Sadie Elston, Loreley Harper and Emily Brasington; his mother, Margaret; and a brother, Wayne (Mary) Gibson.
He is preceded in death by his father, three siblings in infancy and a grandson, Nicholas Widner.
Jerry served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had worked as a purchasing agent for Caterpillar in Peoria and had been a Henry County Deputy Coroner. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Galva and the Hagberg-Hamlin American Legion Post 45 and was part of the Galva Fusiliers.
