Sherry Kelly’s always dreamt of owning her own business. That dream’s about to come true.

Kelly, of Galva, is in the process of opening Sherry’s Cafe, a restaurant featuring American food, at the corner of Front Street and North Center Avenue. Target opening date is Feb. 15.

The business will be located in the former Garden of Eat-In, a barbecue-based restaurant closed by owners Jim and Pam Doherty four or five years ago.

“I have always wanted to have my own restaurant. I’ve been in it (restaurant work) forever,” said Kelly, who has about 20 years restaurant experience.
