In Henry County circuit court on Monday, Galva Police Officer Jason Gibbs described events leading to the Oct. 13 arrests of three people on methamphetamine-related charges. He said it’s not known at this time if actual meth was found.
 

A car with an active meth lab inside it crashed into a power pole in Galva early Tuesday morning after being pursued from Galva Cemetery by Galva Police.
 

“Keep all of your doors locked.” That’s what Police Chief Jerry Clark’s urging Galva residents after a string of nighttime burglaries from vehicles and garages in the city. Burglars have been taking money, Global Positioning Systems, CD’s, wallets and keys. Beer was taken from an unlocked garage.
 

Judge Charles Stengel on Wednesday in Henry County Court sentenced two people for their roles in two separate shootings in which Robert Daum of Galva was injured in his home in April and October of 2008.


 

Police are warning the public about a phone scam in the area. According to Henry County Sheriff Gib Cady, the scammers call cellular and residential phone numbers, then say they are testing phone lines.

A Saturday evening fire ripped through a home in the 500 block of Willard Street in Wataga. More than 20 firefighters and at least five units from the Oneida-Wataga Fire Department and surrounding departments battled the blaze for more than an hour.

The City of Galva is having a building constructed and attached to the former City Administration Building – the new police station – at 210 Front St.

 

The 13-year-old girl charged with conspiracy to commit murder in last year’s two shootings at a Galva home entered an Alford admission on Friday. She was adjudicated a delinquent and made a ward of the court.

 

The Galva Fire Department was called to 403 SE 7th Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, where smoke was coming out of the eaves, according to Fire Chief Denny Tarleton. No one was home so the fire department broke in the front door.
 

Four Altona residents were in Knox County jail following a Wednesday morning, July 29 bust by drug enforcement agents on a 308 Monroe St. residence. All four lived in the home.
 

A former Galva man who was currently living in Kewanee was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening in Kewanee. Scott M. Mlekush, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:34 p.m. by Henry County Coroner David Johnson.

 

A Peoria pair entered open guilty pleas Friday in Henry County court in connection with shooting incidents six months apart last year at the Galva home of Robert Daum, the woman’s ex-husband.
 

Jury trials for co-defendants Patrick Patterson and Angela Daum of Peoria will not be held at the same time with two juries.

 

Three fire departments battled a house fire Sunday afternoon near LaFayette. The home and contents of Phyllis Armbright and her son Craig were extensively damaged.

 

Judge Ted Hamer has denied a bond reduction for Tammy Hagerty, 32, of Galva, who was arrested recently for alleged participation in methamphetamine activities.
