Traffic flowing normally in Andover area

Traffic on I-74 and IL 82 through Andover and Lynn Center has returned to normal, the Henry County Sheriff's Department reports.

Motorists asked to avoid I-74, IL 81 near Andover

Drivers are asked to avoid using I-74 or IL 81 through the Andover and Lynn Center area this morning, Friday, Oct. 14, according to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff's Department. Motorists should use Route 150, Osco Road, Route 6 or Route 17 to go through the area, the press release said.

Galva homeowner's life saved, but all possessions lost in fire

Four Galva men and a lady were at the right place at the right time, saving a man’s life Saturday afternoon. Sadly, the man lost his home to fire, though.

Found body identified as Wataga man's

A body found two weeks ago in a field in Knoxville has been identified as that of a Wataga man.

Dustin E. Hengl, 35, was identified through DNA evidence obtained in an autopsy, according to a news release July 27 by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.
 

Fire breaks out at sawmill near Galva

The George Mille Saw Mill caught fire early Thursday morning, June 30, in rural Galva. Fire departments on the scene included Cambridge, Galva, Osco and Andover, Bishop Hill, Kewanee and Atkinson.

Galva Police officer Wiggin is terminated after charges filed

A Galva Police officer was terminated after being hired full-time just last week, after he was charged with three class A felonies and five misdemeanders in an incident in Kewanee on Sunday morning.
 

Early morning blaze today ravages Galva house

An early morning fire perhaps totally destroyed a vacant house in Galva this morning.

Galva, Bishop Hill and LaFayette firemen were called to a house owned by J.T. and Melissa Kelly at 504 SW 3rd Ave. about 2:30 a.m. today. The rear of the house was totally engulfed in flames, according to Galva Fire Chief Denny Tarleton.

The Galva Fire Department was called to a fire in a machine shed May 5 about 3:40 p.m. The shed was located on 300N east of 2350E.
