A Galesburg man and woman were arrested Saturday night after they attempted to set up a methamphetamine lab in the West Truro Cemetery at 1797 Truro Turn Road south of Victoria.
Someone saw the incident unfolding in the cemetery and called the Knox County Sheriff’s Department. When officers arrived, they found a woman in the car outside the cemetery and the man had run, according to a spokesman for the sheriff’s department Tuesday morning.
Arrested was Samantha A. Wetterow, 27, of 256 N. Ivan St., Galesburg, at 6:23 p.m. for participation in methamphetamine production, possession of meth manufacturing materials, possession of anhydrous ammonia, and illegal transportation of anhydrous ammonia. Wetterow was also picked up on a Knox County warrant.
Officers also arrested Michael C. Yahnke, 24, of 1267 E. Main St., Galesburg, at 6:23 p.m. He was the man who ran and hid but was in the cemetery. Yahnke was charged with participation in meth production, possession of meth making materials, possession of anhydrous ammonia, illegal transportation of anhydrous ammonia, and criminal trespass to state land.
The pair was transported to Knox County Jail.
Bond of $4,000 was set for Wetterow for the outstanding warrant and bond of $20,000 for the current meth related charges. She posted 10 percent ($2,400) and was released.
Yahnke’s bond was set at $50,000 and he remains in Knox County Jail.
