Four arrested in Altona meth bust

Four Altona residents were in Knox County jail following a Wednesday morning, July 29 bust by drug enforcement agents on a 308 Monroe St. residence. All four lived in the home.

Catrina S. Gooley, 31; Sean M. Norvell, 34; Michael J. Vanwinkle, 32; and a 17-year-old Galesburg girl were arrested and charged with aggravated meth participation of greater 400 grams, possession of meth precursor of greater than 15 grams, meth manufacturing material, meth related child endangerment, possession of meth greater than 5 grams.

Norvell and Vanwinkle also were charged for outstanding failures to appear on Knox County warrants.

According to a Knox County Sheriff’s Department press release, the agents, from the Peoria Multi-County Drug Enforcement Group, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police Tactical Response team and the state police meth response team, found 2,640 grams of liquid believed to methamphetamine, as well as 10 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine in the home.

A young child was also staying in the residence. The child was placed in the care of family members.
