A car with an active meth lab inside it crashed into a power pole in Galva early Tuesday morning after being pursued from Galva Cemetery by Galva Police.

A Galva policeman was driving through the cemetery just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when he spotted a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo in the cemetery. The car sped back toward Galva with the officer in pursuit.

The car, driven by David E. Pierce, 47, of 311 SE 2nd St., crashed into a power pole at the intersection of South Center Avenue and Southeast 6th Street.

Pierce and two passengers, Jennifer L. Korschgen, 36, for whom authorities had two addresses, one at 311 SE 2nd St. in Galva and one in Galesburg, and Ray A. Riley, 51, of 412 12th Ave. in Hampton, were all taken by Galva-Bishop Hill Emergency Medical Service to Kewanee Hospital.

The trio was taken to Henry County Jail, where bond for Pierce was set at $150,000, and at $75,000 each for Korschgen and Riley. A preliminary hearing for all three has been set for Monday in Henry County Court.
