An 83-year-old Queen City, Mo. woman was killed and two others were injured when a 1976 Cessna single-engine plane crashed just after taking off from the Kewanee Municipal Airport on Monday night.

The woman, whose name was being withheld until authorities could notify kin, was travelling with her husband, who was the pilot, and a 14-year-old grandson from McNabb. The man and boy were both treated and released.

The plane crashed into a standing cornfield half a half mile south of the airport. The teen walked form the crash scene to the airport, where a woman on duty called 911.

Rescue workers had to search through the cornfield in the dark to find the wreckage.
