The Galva Fire Department was called to 403 SE 7th Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, where smoke was coming out of the eaves, according to Fire Chief Denny Tarleton.

No one was home so the fire department broke in the front door.

Firemen found food left on the stove as the cause of the smoke. They opened windows and put a fan inside the house to clear out the smoke.

The department was on the scene until 11:15 p.m.

The house is occupied by Lilly Bebensee.
