Facing 12 years in prison, David Pierce, 47, of Galva filed a motion last week to withdraw his guilty plea to methamphetamine-related felonies filed last October after his arrest in Galva.

A hearing on the motion is set for April 20.

Pierce entered an open guilty plea on Feb. 18 to Class 1 felony possession of anhydrous ammonia and Class 2 felony possession of methamphetamine-making material.

Judge Ted Hamer sentenced Pierce last week to 12 years on the first charge and seven on the second, to be served concurrently. He was also to have two years mandatory supervised release and was ordered to pay a $3,000 drug assessment fee.

According to Pierce’s motion, he is withdrawing his plea because there was no lab report indicating the presence of anhydrous ammonia.

Pierce is now incarcerated at Stateville Correctional Center, Joliet.
