Galva School District officials have announced a list of options they’re considering as they try to cut $500,000 to $700,000 from the district budget for the 2010-2011 school year.
The Galva School Board will discuss the options and other possible responses to current financial woes when it meets at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15 in the high school cafeteria. The public is invited. Public comment is welcome at the beginning of the meeting.
Up to 12 certified staff positions could be affected by the cuts. So could several non-certified staff. Reductions could include job loss or reduced hours.
Possible sports cuts include a $15,000 reduction in the athletic budget and number of games played.
New text books are also possibly on the chopping block.
