Invenergy Wind LLC has reached an agreement to sell a portion of its Bishop Hill wind project to MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.

The sale, announced Jan. 20, means MidAmerican will acquire Phase II of the wind project currently being built by Invenergy in the Galva-Bishop Hill area. The phase consists of 50 wind turbines which will produce 80 megawatts of power. The 50 turbines are located in Bishop Hill, Cambridge, Clover and Andover townships.

“Invenergy will continue to own and operate the first phase (133 turbines) of the Bishop Hill Project, Bishop Hill I,” an Invenergy spokesperson said. “We look forward to maintaining the strong relationship we’re pleased to have developed with our host community and to investing in its economic success.”

Terms of the deal, and the reason for it, were not disclosed by Invenergy.

Invenergy said the sale will not affect any area residents.

“All agreements entered into will be honored by MidAmerican,” Invenergy officials said.
