A Galva family is without a home following a fire that claimed their residence on Saturday night.
The blaze broke out at the 209 NW 1st Ave. home of Bob and Diane Johnson and their grandson, Lorenzo Tull, 12. The fire began in an attached garage and then spread to the home itself. The family essentially lost all their possessions, along with two pets.
The home immediately south of the Johnson's, occupied by Carol Dickerson, also sustained damage when the fire spread. Siding on the house north of the Johnson's also suffered damage. It is owned by Alissa Martin.
Bob Johnson is the longtime director of Galva's Emergency Services Disaster Agency (ESDA).
Further details are expected in the printed edition of the Oct. 14 Galva News.
