Galesburg -

A former ROWVA High School student was found shot to death Saturday at a closed medical clinic in northwestern South Carolina in what police are calling a murder and attempted suicide.

According to the Seneca, S.C. Police Department, Karla M. Smith Benson Crouse, 29, of Newry, formerly Karla M. Smith, sustained two gunshot wounds - a fatal shot to her head and a shot in her shoulder.

An autopsy conducted Monday confirmed Benson was about 24 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
