Name: Diana Whitney

Age: 61 (for a while yet)

Occupation: Managed Care Consultant

Family: daughter Marcy Misch, her husband Jarett and their daughter Brooke; son Kris Appell, his wife Julie and their two daughters, Brittany and Morgan and my sweetheart and best friend, Larry Lindburg

Has resided in Galva since: first moved to Galva in 1953, then moved away in the early 1970s and returned in 1998

Favorite Music: jazz, folk and ’60s rock and roll

Favorite Sports Teams: Brooklyn Dodgers (Can you tell I am out of the loop?)

One of my cherished childhood memories is: growing up on Northwest Third Avenue. During the summer months I could leave the house after breakfast, hop on my bike and gather up others and we’d ride around town, stopping to play in the park, ending up at someone’s house for lunch (back then every mother was everyone’s mother) and then play all afternoon until the whistle blew at 5 p.m. Then it was time to come home. I was lucky to have a safe neighborhood in which to live, a great school to attend and family and friends who took the time to pay attention to their children.
