Most respondents to a Galva News poll say they believe the Galva High School boys basketball team will come close, but not quite win, the Lincoln Trail Conference tournament this weekend.
According to the poll, which ended Jan. 31 at galvanews.com, 50 percent of voters said they believe the Wildcats will finish in second place in the tournament, which ends with the championship game in Galva on Saturday night, Feb. 4. Galva took its first step toward the title game last night, beating Princeville 64-49 in the GHS gym.
Twelve percent of respondents pick the Cats to win the championship. Another 12 percent pick them to finish in fourth place. The remaining 25 percent say they believe Galva will finish somewhere lower than fourth place.
