Tim Meier of Galva correctly picked Mid-County in the tie-breaker game to win Week 1 of the Galva News Football Contest this past week.
Meier and Steve L. Larson, also of Galva, both correctly guessed the winners of seven of the nine games in the opening week.
But Meier won the contest by picking Mid-County to beat Princeville, which the Cougars did, 26-12, on Friday. Larson chose Princeville to win the Cougars’ inaugural game.
Rich Lewin of Galva correctly guessed all but three games. Mike Raley, also of Galva, came in fourth by missing four games.
New to the contest this year is the prize: a $20 gift certificate. The certificate is usable only at advertising sponsors of the football contest.
Entry forms are included in the Galva News printed edition each week. Entries must be postmarked by 5 p.m. Friday night, or put in the Galva News mailbox outside the newspaper's office by 5 p.m. Friday.
