Betty L. Shoopman, 92, of Tennessee, Ill., passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the Elms Nursing Center in Macomb. She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Colchester, to John and Maude Tandy Coghill. Betty was united in marriage to Blondell Shoopman, in Kahoka, Mo., in 1941, he preceded her in death Aug. 19, 2001, she was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving to mourn her passing are one son, Thomas Alan (Valerie) Shoopman, of Florida; one daughter, Janice (Chuck) Butterfield, of Colchester, three grandchildren, Paul (Lisa) Butterfield, Kelly Butterfield and Justin Lundgren, Scott (Andrea) Shoopman; four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Madison, Jill (Dylan) Cook, and Courtney.
Betty had worked at McDonough Telephone, Colchester State Bank and helped her husband on the family farm.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Rev. Lee Unger. The family invites everyone that attends the service to share their memories of Betty during the service.  Burial will follow the services at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Friday.
