Everyone watches their pennies these days and school districts are no exception. As budgets get tighter due to state monetary woes, schools are increasingly scrutinizing their own finances. This is certainly true in Galva as the school board and administration have been wrestling with the increasing loss of funds from Springfield.
Later in the year, I will write a more detailed article about school district finances. In today’s article, however, I will attempt to explain why the money we spend is a good value for the citizens of Galva. Since I am biased on this topic, let us turn to an impartial source to answer the question - the Illinois State Board of Education’s Report Card.
State and federal law requires all school districts to release report cards to the public each year. In Illinois, we meet this mandate by issuing the Galva CUSD 224 Report Card. This report card is a 19-page document filled with lots of data about our schools. Let us examine some of the results.
