Saturday's hoop games with Pontiac and Prairie Central
Prairie Central took two from Pontiac in boys' basketball over the weekend. The varsity Hawks triumphed 42-30 after rallying from an early deficit.
Prairie Central fell behind 7-4 in the opening period but outscored the Indians 14-10 in the second for an 18-17 lead at the intermission. The margin grew to 30-23 after three periods. The Hawks made enough free throws (six) down the stretch to secure the win.
Tyler Burnett paced PC with 13 points and Tom Shafer scored 12. Clifton Slagel added 9 points with Luke Crane and Peyton Rigsby each netting 4 points.
Zac Dittmer's 10 points led Pontiac. Ryan Weir had 9 and Ben Schuler threw in 4 markers. Payton Amm chipped in 3 while Cam Dawson and Carter Dawson each scored 2 points.
The sophomore Hawks prevailed 34-29, dropping the PTHS club to 9-3 on the season. PC did not score in the first quarter but led 16-15 at the intermission. PTHS was up 23-22 after three periods.
Amm and Luke Fox each had 10 points for Pontiac. Clay Miller added 5 with Evan Trevino and Colten Clesson each scoring 2 points.
