St. Mary’s got off to a great start and did not look back in routing Flanagan 40-12 to win the IESA Class 1A St. Mary’s Regional title Tuesday.
The Saints led 17-2 after one period and held a 25-4 lead at the intermission. It was a 36-8 game after three quarters.
Casey Crowley had 10 points for SMS. Matt Murphy added 8 while Adam Weir and Ricky Matuszewski each scored 6 points. Jace Bauknecht added 5 while Alex Trevino had 3 points and Andy Krenz scored 2 points.
The Saints (21-3) will face the winner of the Cornerstone Regional at the St. Mary’s Sectional next week.
SAUNEMIN — Carson Crouch poured in 26 points in leading Saunemin to a 50-44 come-from-behind victory over Hopkins Park in the semifinal round of the Class 1A Saunemin Regional.
The Eagles fell behind early but overcame an 8-4 deficit in the opening frame to take an 18-17 lead at the break.
Hopkins Park regained the edge in the third period by scoring the first nine points of the second half. Saunemin ended the quarter with a 13-6 run to trail 31-30 entering the fourth period.
SGS led 45-40 late before Hopkins Park knotted the game with a 3-pointer and a converted steal.
Caleb Peet nailed a triple and Crouch scored to end the scoring with the Eagles winning and moving on. Saunemin will meet Tri-Point, a 47-29 winner over Donovan in the other semifinal.
Isaac Telford added 17 points for the Eagles. Dallas Hillier chipped in 4 points and Peet had 3.
