Although Charles Payton was not a factor, Flanagan-Cornell still had trouble containing Olympia as the Spartans rallied to post a 45-38 victory over the Falcons in a battle of Yoders Saturday night.
Oly head coach Doug Yoder was able to wake up his Spartans in between the third and fourth quarters after Brian Yoder’s Falcons had built a 32-22 lead through three periods.
Flanagan-Cornell got off to a good start in grabbing a 13-6 lead after one quarter and making it a 23-11 game at the intermission.
Olympia got hot in the last stanza by scoring 23 points while limiting the Falcons to just six.
Jeremy Durdan had 13 points and Karson Kimpling added 12 for the Falcons. Brian Albertson chipped in 6 with Blake Blankenbeckler adding 4 points and Braden Wallace scoring 3.
Pleasant Plains 58, Dwight 51
RIVERTON — Problems in the middle two quarters burned Dwight as the Trojans suffered a 58-51 loss to Pleasant Plains at the Riverton Shootout on Saturday.
The game was knotted at 18-18 after an exciting first quarter, but Plains outscored DTHS 11-4 in the second for a 29-22 halftime lead, then augmented the advantage to 45-31 through three periods.
Dwight outscored the Cardinals 20-13 in the fourth quarter but the deficit was too great to overcome.
Justin Fox had 20 points and 8 rebounds for the Trojans (16-9). Blake Graham added 13 points while Logan Graham chipped in 6. Carter Wykes scored 5 points with Cole Hahn adding 4 and Cal Schultz throwing in 3 markers.
