Junior high track
Pontiac competed in a junior high track meet at home Wednesday with the seventh grade girls winning their portion of the quadrangular. The Warriors hosted Normal Metcalf, Normal Parkside and Reed-Custer.
Piper Brewer captured the hurdles race for the seventh grade girls, who won five events. The 4x100 relay team also hit the tape first. Emme Lee was second in the 400 and the 4x200 relay was runnerup. Placing third for PJHS were Lee in the 100, Leonard in the 200 and Jayonnah Einhaus in the hurdles.
In the field, Aliya Leonard took the long jump, Brynn Pickett won the shot put and Carrington Gray claimed the discus while taking second in the shot. Lee took second in the pole vault.
The seventh grade boys finished second as a team and had six first-place finishes. In the field, Andy Krenz swept the throws by taking the shot put and discus. Brady Monahan won the pole vault. Adam Eck was third in the long jump.
Sam Fogarty captured the 800 run while the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams triumphed. Monahan was third in the 100, Dewayne Johnson was third in the hurdles and Brock Lindley was third in the 400.
In eighth grade, bit the boys and girls’ squads took third in the team standings.
For the girls, Tristina Einhaus was a triple-winner in individual events by taking the 100 and 200 dashes on the track and the long jump in the field. The 4x200 relay team also triumphed.
Taking second for PJHS were Hannah Grove in the long jump and Kenzie Blankenbeckler in the high jump and hurdles. Sam Thoman placed third in the 400, Franchesca Smith was third in the 800 and Alyssa Rodriguez was third in the discus.
Ethan Schickel led the eighth grade boys with a pair of middle distance wins. Schickel won the 400 and 800 runs for half the Warriors first-place points. Donovan Murphy won the 100 dash and Luke Morrissette took the discus.
Murphy was second in the 200 and the 4x400 relay came in second. Scoring third-place points were Casey Crowley in the 400, Morrissette in the shot put and the 4x100 relay team.
