Area softball from Thursday

Abby Edwards had more base hits than she allowed and drove in more runs than she gave up in leading Dwight to a 12-1 Sangamon Valley Conference softball win over Iroquois West Thursday.
Edwards allowed just one hit and one run, which was earned. But she struck out eight and walked one in the circle.
Dwight pushed across six runs in the third inning to take control of the outcome. Iroquois West scored its run in the bottom of the inning and the Trojans responded with five markers in the top of the fourth. A run in the fifth was tacked on for good measure.
Edwards had a triple and double while driving in three runs for DTHS. Macey Rodosky had a triple and single with two RBIs, Sydney Christensen contributed a double, single and RBI and Kaitlyn Masching collected two hits and a run batted in. Becky Ruder, Morgan Zabel, Maddi Groves, Leah Flynn and LynnDee Hale each singled.
