Class 1A girls' track sectionals from Thursday

    Mya Tinsley and Gracie Feeney had strong efforts at their respective sectional track meets Thursday and will be leading a collective group of athletes from Ridgeview-Lexington, El Paso-Gridley, Tri-Point and Fieldcrest to the state meet next week.

    Tinsley is headed to the Class 1 girls’ state track-and-field finals meet in two individual events and one relay in helping the Ridgeview-Lexington co-op take second place at the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Sectional Thursday.
    Tinsley won the 100-meter dash in 12.72 seconds and anchored the winning 4x200 relay team. Jules Grunloh, River Rosales and Elexys Rosales teamed with Tinsley to win in 1:49.46.
    Tinsley will also compete in the long jump after placing second with a mark of 16 feet, 1 inch.
    Grunloh is also headed to state in the 400 dash with a runnerup time of 1:02.13 and as a member of the 4x400 relay team. Ridgeview’s 4x400 relay team took third but beat the qualifying standard as the quartet of Elexys Rosales, Tia Hardt, River Rosales and Grunloh finished in 4:16.26. Layken McGuire was second in the 1,600 at 5:46.18.
    Tri-Point will also be represented at O’Brien Stadium in Charleston. Jacki Weller won the 200 dash in 26.76 seconds and Ali Flessner was second in the 800 at 2:31.78.
Tremont Sectional
    TREMONT — Feeney is going to participate in the maximum four events for EPG. Feeney took second in three individual events and anchored the winning 4x400 team.
    In the field, Feeney had a leap of 16-1¼ to take second in the long jump. On the track, Feeney lost to teammate Kaylynn Schlipf in the 100 hurdles. Schlipf won in 15.61 seconds and Feeney crossed at 16.03. Feeney was second in the 300 hurdles at 46.05 seconds.
    The 4x400 relay team of Makenna Parkhouse, Schlipf, Maddie Morrison and Feeney won in 4:13.9.
    Fieldcrest’s Claire Weers took third in the 800 but beat the qualifying standard with a run of 2:25.12.
