Sophomores Madi Funk of El Paso-Gridley and Lexington’s Jayden Standish were among the 10 players named to the top squad of the Heart of Illinois Conference all-league team for the 2017 season.
Regular-season champion Eureka and Tri-Valley each had two players named to the first team while tournament champ Dee-Mack, Blue Ridge, Heyworth and Tremont were also represented.
Three of the first-team members were unanimous choices with Hannah Brackenhoff of Blue Ridge, Carson Smalley of Dee-Mack and Eureka’s Hailey Flowers — all juniors — receiving the honor. Also named to the first team were Maddie McCunn of Eureka, Amber Tomlin of Heyworth, Tremont’s Violet Thompson and Tri-Valley’s Hannah Clayton and Ryleigh Warfel.
Lexington had two other players named to the all-HOIC second team and honorable mention. EPG also had two more players selected with Fieldcrest garnering three players and Flanagan-Cornell getting two players selected. Ridgeview also had two players selected.
Selected to the second team from the area were Cheyenne Carr of EPG, Lexington’s Emma White, Emma Petersen of Fieldcrest and Liberty Vollmer of Flanagan-Cornell.
Honorable mention selections from the area were Ashlyn Mool of EPG, Jacie Sullivan and Madi Hock of Fieldcrest, Flanagan-Cornell’s Kylie Kindermann, Lauren Boyd of Lexington and Ridgeview’s Kelly Jones and River Rosales.
