Ridgeview wins game at Lexington Classic
Ridgeview has gotten off to a good start to its season at the Lexington Girls Classic this week, including posting a 63-29 victory over Roanoke-Benson Friday night.
Gardner-South Wilmington needed two overtimes to get past Dee-Mack in the first game, winning 54-47.
Ridgeview used its athleticism and relied on the floor leadership of Stacia Landry and River Rosales in building a lead early and not relenting. The Mustangs raced to a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Rockets 21-8 in the second for a 36-15 halftime advantage. The margin grew to 48-22 by the end of the third quarter.
Rosales finished with 12 points and 5 assists for the Mustangs (3-0). Mya Tinsley collected 15 points and 6 rebounds and Kelly Jones contributed 11 points and 6 boards. Hannah Hamilton added 8 points, Jaedyn Hadley threw in 6 markers and Emma Nunamaker recorded 5 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Maddi Clark and Haliegh Beck had 3 points apiece. Landry snared 5 caroms.
Ridgeview and Lexington will play the late game Monday as the tourney concludes. Roanoke-Benson and GSW will tangle in the first game.
