Fulton scored six runs in the second inning and made those tallies stand up to defeat Galva 9-2 and end the Lady Cats’ softball season with a Class 1A Regional win at Fulton on May 18.
The Lady Cats - who end their season 5-21 overall and 4-11 in the Lincoln Trail Conference - opened the scoring, tallying a run in the first after Erika Edmonds singled, stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a groundout by Chloe McIntire.
But the hosts came back to score six times in the second, keyed by three Galva errors, two walks and three hits.
Galva had chances to score in the second with a one-out double by Morgan Nelson and in the third with a two-out double by McIntire, but couldn’t come up with a clutch hit.
