The third-ranked Ridgewood Spartans (28-2) lost a late double-digit advantage, retook the lead, watched Knoxville’s 6-foot-3 center drill a game-tying 3-pointer to send the game to overtime and eventually pulled ahead in the extra session for a 41-39 victory over the sixth-ranked Blue Bullets (24-8) and championship of the AlWood Regional on Feb. 11.

In short, this much-anticipated game lived up to expectations. And more.

“It was a great game,” Ridgewood coach Bryan Brooks said. “We knew Knoxville was going to keep chipping away and chipping away.”

But two points was all Ridgewood needed in overtime to seal the victory.
