17 point lead evaporates, sinking Spartans

The Ridgewood boys basketball team held a commanding 17-point lead entering the fourth quarter against Princeville in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament on Feb. 4.

It wasn’t enough.

The Princes hammered the Spartans for 32 points in the final eight minutes to pull out a 79-76 come-from-behind victory.

Princeville’s Joe Hefler scored 12 of his 18 points in the final quarter to lead the Princes to the dramatic victory.

Ridgewood post Tyler Nimrick scored 24 points in the first three quarters but was slowed to only four in the fourth to finish with a game-best 28.

Brian Norberg added 16 for Ridgewood (2-18), which led 64-47 after three quarters.
