The Big Ten Conference will reveal divisions in football Wednesday night, the league announced.

According to a report by ESPN, the Big Ten divisional alignments will be:

-- Illinois, Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Indiana.

-- Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota.

The league schedule for 2011 and 2012 will also be unveiled during an announcement on the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. The divisions are football only.

The Big Ten will announce the changes to the breakdown on the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. Commissioner Jim Delany will address the media in a teleconference at 7.

The Big Ten began working on the divisions after adding Nebraska to the conference beginning in the 2011 football season, thus creating a 12-team league. The Big Ten set a timetable of 30-45 days during the preseason kickoff meetings in Chicago in early August to determine the division.

Illinois athletic director Ron Guenther said Tuesday the Big Ten was working on two models, with competitive balance between the divisions the top priority.
